The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced in a statement via Twitter that Tory Lanez pleaded not guilty to charges related to the shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Lanez, who is a Canadian rapper, was arraigned Wednesday in Los Angeles.
The 28 year old rapper and singer according to CNN, was reported to being the culprit behind the shooting of his former friend in an incident in the Hollywood Hills on July 12.
The victim, Megan Thee Stallion came out publicly to pin the incident on him in August. She stated that he shot at her feet following an argument they had while sharing the same vehicle.
Lanez was arrested and charged at the time of the shooting with possession of a concealed weapon.
According to the District Attorney’s office, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, are some of the charges leveled against the rapper.
Lanez is expected in court on January 20, 2021. The he Los Angeles Police Department, Hollywood Division, is the unit investigating the case.
