The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has caught the General Overseer of Christ Living Hope Church, Rev. Ugochukwu Emmanuel Ekwem, with drugs at Lagos Airport.
The arrest was made on Monday, March 7, during the outward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airlines flight to Nairobi via Addis Ababa.
According to the Director, Media and Advocacy (NDLEA), Mr. Femi Babafemi, the Christ Living Hope Church owner was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, while trying to get on a plane to Kenya.
It was reported that Ekwem was travelling to Kenya for a three-weeks crusade.
The Christ Living Hope Church has headquarters in three states which include: Isuaniocha, Mgbakwu road, Awka, Awka North LGA, Anambra State, and two other branches in Lagos and Abuja.
The NDLEA spokesman revealed that 54 sticks of drugs were wrapped around the man of God’s body.

He also added that the Christ Living Hope Church GO has confessed that he packed the drugs to use during his three weeks crusade in the East African country.
“When tested, the 54 sticks proved positive to cannabis. The clergyman confessed during preliminary interview that he packed that quantity of illicit substance on his body to use during his three weeks crusade in Kenya,” Babafemi said.
Meanwhile, the Christ Living Hope Church is yet to respond to this development.
The NDLEA has stepped up its offensive against illicit drug use and trafficking in Nigeria.
The agency recently graduated 650 of its operatives from the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji, Kaduna State.
The operatives drawn from the agency’s Strike Force unit went through weeks of rigorous specialised training.
