Senegal has defeated Egypt on penalties to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The Teranga Lions of Senegal have won the cup for the first time, beating the Pharaohs of Egypt by four goals to two on penalties and depriving them of their eighth record title.
Mohammed Salah’s hope to win the continental soccer trophy for his country has been dashed, while his Liverpool team mate, Sadio Mane has risen to victory.

Mane had missed a penalty in the seventh minute but made up for it by converting the winning spot-kick and leaving Salah in tears.
Kalidou Koulibaly found the net for Senegal with the first spot kick and Egypt’s Zizo leveled the score. Abdou Diallo of Senegal took the second and converted while Mohamed Abdel Monem of Egypt missed.
The Egyptian goalie, Gabasky saved the third spot kick by Bouna Sarr, while Marwan Hamdi scoring bolstered his team’s passion for a comeback. Bamba Dieng netted another for Senegal and Mohanad Mostafa Lasheen miss sealed the Pharaoh’s chances before Mane’s goal ended it all.
