The Federal High Court, Abuja, has adjourned the trial of Colonel Nicholas Ashinze, former aide of ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, till January 19, 2021.
The ruling was passed on Thursday by Justice Okon, after the prosecution counsel headed by Offem Uket, asked for the withdrawal of the seventh prosecution witness (PW7), Hassan Seidu, from the case due to his ongoing training at the Nigerian Defense College (NDC), Abuja.
Wilson Uwujaren, the Head, Media & Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, disclosed this information in a statement.
Ashinze alongside three others and five companies are under prosecution by the EFCC for allegedly diverting N5.6billion from the office of the former NSA.
During the process of asking for the withdrawal of his client from the witness list, Uket asked that the documents submitted by his client should be recalled and he called for adjournment of the court proceedings.
The defence counsel did not object to the prayers of the prosecution, following which Justice Abang adjourned the matter till January 19 for continuation of trial.
