Tottenham VS Everton: Conte’s Boys Compound Lampard’s Woes in 5-Goal Drubbing

Tottenham Hotspur turned on the style in their Monday night Premiere League match against strugglers Everton with an emphatic 5-0 win.

Tottenham have struggled to find consistency recently under coach Antonio Conte despite the Italian’s promising start to life in North London.

Everton’s situation is even more worrying as they continued their slump with Frank Lampard in the dugout.

Monday night’s game was very crucial for both teams as they chased different objectives.

Tottenham needed a win to stay in touch for an European place finish while Everton were trying to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.

Tottenham opened the scoring courtesy an own goal from Michael Keane and Everyton went on a slippery slope from there on.

Heung-min Son doubled the lead and Sergio Reguilon tucked home the third, before Harry Kane stole the show with an impressive brace to end a perfect night.

This defeat confirmed Everton’s status as a relegation candidate as they now sit just one point above the drop zone.

However, Lampard has expressed confidence that Everton will avoid the drop adding that he knew the extent of the challenge that awaited him when he took the job.

He told Sky Sports: “I’m confident. I know that there’s a lot in this team.

“I didn’t walk into the building with a magic wand and say I’m going to make this team that’s won one in 14 go on an unbeaten run that takes us to mid-table, it’s not possible.

“You see that with managers who change through the Premier League this year, it takes some time to come in.

“You work together, we’ve seen it at Goodison and we’ve seen it away from home, but I’m absolutely confident.

“I wouldn’t take on the job if I wasn’t.

“It was very clear when I came in that the feeling was that we could be going down here. It was clear in the city and the club and it was up to me to change that.”

Conte on the other hand insisted that the level of his team has improved in the recent weeks.

He told Sky Sports: “It was a good game.

“It wasn’t an easy game because Everton are a time that are now fighting in the relegation zone but they have a good team and good players.

“We played a good game. We moved the ball really well, we used the space at the right time and I’m pleased for my players because when you see this type of game and the work that we’re doing it means that the work is starting to pay off.

“The level of this team has improved, but it’s not enough because the level of this league is very high.”
