Veteran Yoruba actor, John Adewunmi famously known as Tafa Oloyede is dead. The actor died after a brief illness yesterday at his residence in Osogbo.
Tafa Oloyede hailed from Ede in Osun State, and he was 69 years old at the time of his death. He started acting 1974 and came into limelight by featuring in ‘Kootu Asipa’ (Ashipa’s Court) in the 80s on Nigerian Television Authority, Ibadan.

It was reported that Tafa displayed no sign of illness when he attended the annual general meeting of Bigscreen Entertainment in Ibadan and when appeared on a program at the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) TV last month.
The Osun State Chapter Secretary of Theater Arts and Motion Picture Producers Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Mr. Ademola Oyedokun, confirmed the news stating the actor died at his Arowomole residence in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

Oyedokun said, “Late Tafa Oloyede had his tutelage under late Oyin Adejobi. He featured in many movies that include ‘Jaiyesimi’, ‘Ayanmo’, ‘Ekuro Oloja’, ‘Orogun’, ‘Akanji Oniposi’ that made him popular and others.
“He died today at his residence at Arowomole, Kajola area Osogbo. He is survived by wife and children.”
