According to news report, the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has sent in his condolence on the death of Prof. Benjamin Oloruntimehin, who was a former President of the Nigerian Academy of Letters and Historical Society of Nigeria.
Fayemi described the deceased who passed away on Friday at age 81 as a celebrated and respected scholar, teacher and administrator, whose work inspired and played major roles in the lives of other scholars.

In a statement on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, titled, ‘Fayemi mourns renowned historian, Prof. Oloruntimehin’, the governor said, “The country and Ekiti State have lost another shining star, a historian of repute and teacher of teachers.”
Fayemi said the Ekiti State-born Professor of History made an indelible mark in research and teaching of History and in the academia, adding that Oloruntimehin excelled in every assignment entrusted to his care, leaving behind a legacy of excellent service.
