A security expert, Dr Ona Ekhomu, has charged the Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, to lead the effort to rescue the pupils abducted in the state by members of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
According to Ekhomu, who is the President of the Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operations of Nigeria, Masari has a duty to lead the fresh pursuit as “every day that passes seals the fate of the Kankara boys.”

The security expert stated this on Monday while reacting to the abduction of over 300 pupils from the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara.
He stated that the attack was preventable, and added that the state government and the school authorities were negligent by not conducting risk assessments that would have enabled them to predict the mass kidnap.
“The governor must lead this effort personally as leaving it to the federal security agencies alone might not produce desired outcomes. Since kidnapping has become common currency in the North-West, the security agents are no longer committed to hot pursuit or fresh pursuit. The stories of the escaped youths could serve as investigative leads,” he added.
