Instagram appeared as one of the online platforms “restricted” from operating on a list by Russia’s media regulator, Roskomnadzor.

This event comes after Moscow accused Meta of allowing calls for violence against Russians, including the military, on its platforms. Meta is the social media’s parent company.
Facebook and Twitter were blocked earlier in March as part of sweeping efforts by Moscow to control information available to Russians about its military operation in Ukraine.
Instagram is the most popular social media platform among young Russians and being unable to access the platforms will hinder them from connecting with friends and loves ones far away.
According to a report by an AFP journalist, the image sharing app could be accessed with the use of a VPN.
