Men of the Nigerian Police force fired tear gas at protesters demonstrating against police brutality in Abuja.
As the protesters worked to pass through the back gate of the presidential villa, they were intercepted by security agents on John Kennedy street in Abuja, on Monday.
The police also released tear gas on another group of protesters gathered on Power house at Asokoro.
Early in the day, soldiers mounted road blocks on Maraba-Nyanya expressway that links Nasarawa to Abuja.
Due to the fear of being stuck in traffic, some motorists stayed away from that route, and for the people that couldn’t stay away, they had to resort to trekking.
Officers of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) were also stationed at the very popular Aya roundabout.
Also, some policemen armed with armor and water cannons were stationed in front of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
