Russian-born Elena Rybakina has clinched her first Wimbledon title on Saturday, denying the Tunisian world number, Ons Jabeur by coming back from a set down.
Elena Rybakina, 23, fought back from a set down to make a record win of 3-6, 6-6, 6-2.
Ons Jabeur had the game in control from the start with Rybakina under intense pressure to find momentum. Jabeur was ahead through the first set when Rybakina struck long with a backhand and made several errors with her serves.

Elena found her rhythm at the start of the second set and held Jabeur to a 2-0 lead and eventually won the game.
Switching nationality from Russia to Kazakhstan in 2018, Rybakina has become the first ever Kazakhstani Grand Slam champion.
“I never felt anything like this before,” said the champion. “Congratulations to Ons for everything you have achieved. You are an inspiration to Tunisians and everybody. You played a great match.”
Elena Rybakina had never gotten past the quarterfinals of a Slam before this year’s Wimbledon.

In showing sportsmanship and comforting herself, Jabeur said, “Hopefully next time it will be mine.
“Thanks to my team for their support and believing in me. I love this tournament. I feel sad but that’s tennis. There can only be one winner.”
