Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has rejected the judgement of an Abuja Federal High Court which sacked him from office.
Umahi insisted that he still remains the governor of the state irrespective of the court ruling.
The governor accused the judge of being biased which he described as unacceptable. He, however, called on his supporters and APC members to be calm and law-abiding.
Umahi, who alleged that the judgement was a ‘jungle justice that was purchased, also urged his followers to disregard the ruling.
“The judgement was clearly biased and it’s unacceptable. Already there is a judgement from a High Court in Abakaliki and also in Zamfara state which said that a Governor and his Deputy cannot be removed from office on account of their defection to another party.
“However, there is no need for panic as the judgement will surely be appealed. All members of the APC and supporters of the Governor are advised to remain calm and law-abiding,” the governor said.

Recall that Umahi and Dr. Kelechi Igwe were sacked from office as governor and Deputy governor respectively by Justice Inyang Ekwo of an Abuja Federal High Court.
The judge sacked the governor and his deputy over their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Democratic Party (PDP).
Ekwo ruled that Umahi and his deputy’s defection was unconstitutional, unlawful, null, and void and ordered them to vacate their offices immediately.
The judge in his ruling maintained that the votes that brought the governor and his deputy into power belonged to the PDP and they have no rights to hold on to the vote after jettison the party that nominated them.
