Celebrated Nigerian rapper and Grammy-award winner, Burna Boy adds another feather to his cap with a record breaking stream on Boomplay.
The music star has become the first-ever African artiste to hit 200 million streams on the leading music streaming platform, Boomplay.
Burna Boy outranked Olamide ‘Badoo’ and Fireboy DML with 100 stream in December 2021 and has doubled the score.

This achievement was revealed on Boomplay’s Facebook page which reads, “Odogwu you bad, e file fun Burna Boy as he poses with the first-ever duo-golden club plaque for hitting 200,000,000 streams on Boomplay!”
Tosin Sorinola, the Director of Artist and Media Relations at Boomplay who presented a plaque to Burna Boy, said, “This is another iconic feat for Burna Boy, Boomplay, and the entire African music industry.
“This achievement shows that fans in Africa are fast catching up to the digitization of music and streaming, which Boomplay is championing.

Boomplay streams are calculated based on industry-recognized standards in which only no less than thirty-second stream is equal to one stream count.
