Ash Wednesday is a significant day in Christianity that marks the beginning of the Lent. It will be observed 2nd of March this year.
Ash Wednesday is intended to usher Christian faithful into a time of self-denial, fasting, and solemn reminder of human mortality.

Ash Wednesday is observed to commemorate the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert, during which he endured temptation by Satan.
Also known as the ‘Day of Ashes’, Ash Wednesday symbolizes self-discipline. Among Catholics and some protestant denominations, believers engage in a tradition of inscribing the sign of cross on their foreheads with ashes.
The weeks of Lent serve as a period of reflection and during this time, Christians are expected to give up something in their lives and draw nearer to their Maker in fasting and prayers.
Christian believers have been urged to use this Lent period to pray for Ukrainians and ask for peace to reign.
