During the past week, citizens have taken to the streets in peaceful protests to express their grievances at the harassment and brutality being meted out on them by police, especially by SARS operatives.
The Inspector-general of police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has since dissolved the unit but protesters have continued to demonstrate across the country, calling for a total reform of the entire police force.
In addition, President Muhammadu Buhari said that officers of the now disbanded units, who are found guilty of misconduct would be prosecuted.
