BBN ‘Pepper Dem’

If there there is an award for the show that pushes the narrative that women are the enemies of women, Big Brother Nigeria would have gotten a zillion. BBnaija 2019 edition tagged ‘Pepper Dem’ saw the biggest female fan war ever. Just so you know, this rivalry is still a thing in 2020.

Just like previous editions, the stakes were raised and so was the grand prize.

26 ‘Pepper Dem’ housemates went into the house in June hoping to win the grand prize of N60 million worth of prizes after spending 99 days in Biggie’s house.

BBNaija Bet9ja Coins

The fourth season was the first edition of BBN that was held in Lagos, Nigeria. And during the course of this season, Bet9ja coins were introduced to the house. Bet9ja coin was the only currency allowed for purchasing items in the house. It was also used to reward housemates after completion of tasks and challenges.

BBNaija Week 1

On Day 1, Jeff got rewarded with 500 Bet9ja coins after he was selected by the other housemates to be the head of house.

During the first week, there were no nominations but the housemates with the least amount of Bet9ja coins were evicted from Biggie’s house. Avala and Isilomo were the two housemates that were evicted.

BBNaija 2019 Teams

Later, Big Brother split the housemates into four different teams with the following names; Team Cruisetopia, Team the Icons, Team Enigma and Team the Legends.

The housemates were later redistributed into two new teams; Team the Legends and Team Enigma. The remaining two teams were dissolved.

BBNaija New Housemates

From the 30th to the 32nd day of the show, new housemates entered the house to compete for the grand prize. On the 30th we saw Elozonam and Venita enter the house, on da 31 Joe and Enkay entered the house while Cindy came into the house on day 32.

The usual nomination process was cancelled in place of nomination challenges. The team that won Big Brother Naija games or nomination tasks received weekly supplies as reward while the team that lost went up for eviction automatically.

Mercy secured her place in the finale on day 78 when she bought immunity for herself with Bet9ja coins.

Frodd Wins Ultimate Veto Power

On day 84, Frodd won ultimate veto power and he was given the power to nominate five housemates for eviction in week 13.

Tacha Disqualified From Big Brother Nigeria

On day 89, Tacha had a fight with Mercy and Biggie gave her three strikes which led to her disqualification from the show while Mercy received her second strike.

Frodd’s ultimate veto power also allowed him to do a random selection draw. He had to pick between Omashola and Diane in a game of luck and he picked Diane. Diane missed the opportunity to be in the grand finale.

Big Brother Naija Grand Finale

On Sunday, October 6, 2019, Seyi, Omashola, Mike, Mercy, and Frodd were the five housemates remaining. The host, Ebuka Uchendu, announced the eviction of Seyi, Omashola and Frodd.

Mercy beat Mike to become the first woman to win Big Brother Naija.
